GRACE COLLEGE OF PHARMACY, PALAKKAD 58 th NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK CELEBRATION - 2019

Grace College of pharmacy in association with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association had celebrated the National Pharmacy Week from 02 nd to 07 th December 2019. The major focus of NPW celebration is to create awareness among the public, other healthcare providers and the authorities, about the NPW theme, and in specific to knew well about the pharmacy profession and its role of the pharmacist in general. The theme selected for this year was ?Pharmacist: Your Medication Counsellor?. As Part of the Pharmacy Week Celebration various competitions like Pharma Quiz, Elocution, Seminars, Debate, Oral Poster presentation, Scientific Poster Making, Live Patient Counseling Competition and Skit. All the students eagerly participated in all the events. On this occasion blood donation camp was conducted in association with Kerala State Aids Control Society and National AIDS Control Organisation, Palakkad, Faculties and students were enthusiastically participated. the program was conducted by Mr M. Krishnapillai, Asst.Professor, NSS Program officer. Dr.Rajinikanth, Department of Pharmacology, who had given the demo class on COLS (Compression Only Life Support) with the IV B.Pharm Students at Puliyaparambu Higher secondary school which has been used well to the young adult students for the awareness and first aid against the cardiac arrest persons in any situation. The V th Pharm D Students depicted a lecture on Antibiotic Resistance and its importance to the students of Puliyaparambu higher secondary school. In connection with National Pharmacy Week celebrations a Diabetic Awareness Camp was organized on 03/12/2019 December 2019 at Primary Health Centre, Peruvemba under the guidance of Mrs. Thangamani and Mr.Mahesh Dept of Pharmacy Practice. The VI Pharm.D students actively participated & counseled the patients and briefed about the diabetic mellitus. As highlighted and an important note of this NPW-2019 Celebrations IV Pharm.D Students organized a social service camp at OLD AGE HOME (Santhinikethanam) by enchanting the old people with fun and health awareness class. The Closing ceremony of National Pharmacy Week celebration was held on 7 th December, 2019 at GCP Auditorium. It started on auspicious note with a prayer followed by the welcome address by Dr. Y. Haribabu, Principal, welcomed the gatherings, He emphasized upon the importance of pharmacist in the healthcare team. He also emphasized that the knowledge base, of the pharmacist is crucial to enable him to perform multiple roles. Dr. C. I. Sajeeth, Vice Principal, was the guest of honor has spoke about the role of pharmacist in patient care. He also emphasized upon the role of marketing personnel in safe use of medicines. He elaborated on the need for the community pharmacists to devote more time in patient counseling rather than only dispensing of drugs. All the winners and runners of the various competitions held in the NPW-2019 events rewarded with a certificate and trophies. The ceremony ends with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Resma fathima, Dept of pharmaceutics, Grace College of Pharmacy. The Programme concluded with National Anthem
